About rsRNADisease

About the Database

rsRNADisease is a comprehensive and curated database of rRNA-derived small RNAs (rsRNAs) associated with human diseases. It integrates high-throughput small RNA sequencing datasets, systematically quantifies rsRNAs, and provides information about their origin, subtype, sequence characteristics, and disease associations.
This database is designed to facilitate the exploration of rsRNA biomarkers in disease research, offering interactive visualization, detailed annotations, and downloadable expression profiles.

Definition and Annotation of rsRNAs

rRNA-derived small RNAs (rsRNAs) are a class of small non-coding RNAs generated from ribosomal RNA (rRNA) precursors. In rsRNADisease, rsRNAs are categorized based on their rRNA origin (e.g., 5S, 5.8S, 18S, 28S) and their specific fragment location (5 end, 3 end, internal region).
All rsRNA sequences were aligned and annotated using a curated human rRNA reference, and expression quantification was performed at the transcript level to retain sequence-specific features such as length, read count, and positional information.
